We hear people extolling the virtues of motivation all time. Some people make a lot of money writing books and speaking about motivation. However, motivation is not always the answer. Perhaps what is lacking in our family, workplace, or community is not motivation, but maturity.

There is a big difference between allowing someone to say “thank you” and asking or expecting handouts. We should be gracious when people want to say thanks but guard against the arrogance of demanding or expecting thanks.

Beware of the C-students and the underachievers. There will always be people around who will tell you that you “can’t” do something or that you should not even try. They have settled on mediocrity, don’t let them force that thinking on you.
